Hotel Dusk: Room 215 - Mystery solved
Feb 9th, 2007 by Steve
Game number five of 2007 completed!
Anyway, forget my earlier praise for this. I finished it last night and I’m not overly impressed with it. It started off well and I thought it was going to be quite special but ultimately it has proven to be a quite tedious experience.
I could handle the hand-holding to begin with but it doesn’t stop at all. Interaction is kept quite minimal, and you are practically told what to do all the way through. I more or less spent the last three chapters or so just reading with only a couple of chat options to select. The interface is cumbersome, and there are a couple of bugs where the game refuses to progress if you haven’t done things in an exact sequence that shouldn’t matter anyway. Oh, and not being able to skip chat really starts to annoy later on when you do happen to question someone incorrectly and find yourself forced to sit through it all over again.
I loved Another Code, but this is a step-backwards for me I’m afraid.
